School of Health Systems and Public Health Postdoctoral Fellowships in South Africa, 2017
The SHSPH is a University-wide seeks creative and experienced researchers to join its Postdoctoral Fellowships programme. These fellowships are open for South African researchers in the field of health.
The aim of the fellowship is to give opportunity for advanced education, research, and consultancy in the many fields of public health
The School of Health Systems and Public Health (SHSPH) is a University-wide, “horizontal” School: it accesses and strengthens any area relevant to the health system and to public health. The University programmes are designed for individuals and organisations whose work impacts on health.
Course Level: These fellowships are available to pursue Postdoctoral research.
Study Subject: These fellowships are awarded in the following fields:
- Environmental and Occupational Health Division
- Department of Public Health Medicine
Scholarship Award: These fellowships will cover the fellowships:
- Environmental and Occupational Health Division
The successful applicants will receive postdoctoral training in the EOH Division starting January 2018. Regular journal club discussions, presentations of project results to the EOH Division, entire SHSPH and at conferences along with lecturing in selected postgraduate courses will complement the training. - Department of Public Health Medicine
The successful applicants will receive postdoctoral training in the Department of Public Health Medicine starting January 2018. Regular journal club discussions, presentations of project results to the Department, entire SHSPH and at conferences along with lecturing in selected postgraduate courses and supervision of Master’s and doctoral students will complement the training.
Numbers of Scholarships: Four fellowships are available.
Scholarship can be taken in South Africa
Eligibility: Applicants must meet the following area for these fellowships:
- PhD in Public Health, Preventive medicine, Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Health Technology
- Assessment or related disciplines
- The candidate should be fluent in speaking and writing English
- The project demands above average numeracy skills. Furthermore, experience in statistical analyses using R, Stata and/or SAS will be an advantage. If experience is lacking, then training in the use of statistical packages will be provided during the project.
Nationality: South African applicants can apply for these fellowships.
