Introduction

The Automotive mechanics programme aims to introduce and acquaint trainees to inspect, maintain, and repair cars and light trucks.
Trainees are expected to master and demonstrate knowledge and skills pertaining to the following:

  • Safety rules and regulations in an automotive mechanics workshop
  • Use of basic metal processing tools
  • Apply knowledge of basic mathematical and engineering science related to automotive mechanics
  • Apply basic metal joining techniques used in automotive mechanics
  • Demonstrate knowledge of basic components of an automobile
  • Apply automotive mechanics service tools and equipment
  • Plan, organise and complete work in an automotive mechanics environment.

Other disciplines include: 
HIV and Aids awareness,   numeracy and communication skills and Entrepreneurship.
