University of Namibia Physiology

This Department has three modules focus on the basic principles of Physiology and discuss in detail the development and normal functions of the ten physiological systems within the body. The courses undertaken over the first three semesters are designed to lay a solid foundation and review in detail concepts in Physiology essential in understanding the patho-physiology of diseases.
Upon completion of this course students should be versed in the genetic aspects of early development as well as the interactions that occur in development leading to the formation of the ectoderm, mesoderm and endoderm and the further differentiation of these layers into tissues, organs and systems. Particular attention will be played throughout the course to cell-cell communication and the pivotal role signaling plays in development.
