Admission Criteria
A student is eligible to register for the programme of B Juris if he/she holds a School Leaving Certificate entitling him/her to
degree studies i.e. Namibian Senior Secondary Certificate (NSSC) Ordinary of Higher Level or a recognized equivalent
qualification. A student must obtain a minimum of 30 scores in five subjects according to the UNAM rating with at least a C
symbol in English as a Second Language or higher.
Applicants seeking admission to the B Juris programme as mature students must satisfy mature age entry qualifications as
prescribed in the General Information and Regulations Prospectus.
Admission to the B Juris programme will be based on merit and will depend on places available (i.e. the capacity of the
Faculty). Therefore, the mere satisfaction of the minimum entrance requirements will not guarantee admission to the B Juris
programme.
In order to qualify for admission into the Faculty of Law, a student already admitted to a degree programme of the University of
Namibia in a Faculty other than the Faculty of Law, should attain an overall average of 60%, irrespective of the number of
Course s taken, and provided he/she did not fail any Course in that Faculty. .
The Faculty reserves the right to interview any applicant before admission to the B Juris programme. .
A student who registered for full time studies cannot change to part time studies during the course of the year of registration.
The same rule applies (a fortiori) to a student who registered for part time studies. .
Duration of Study
The fulltime B Juris degree programme extends over a period of at least three (3) academic years.
The maximum period of study for the fulltime B Juris degree programme is five (5) years.
The said periods may only be exceeded with the authority of Senate.
