Polytechnic of Namibia Bachelor of Criminal Justice in Correctional Management

The Certificate in Criminal Justice, as a first exit level, is designed t o equip students with the requisite knowledge and skills in dealing with criminal justice issues in different organisations, including state and private security agencies, and to provide the basis for further learning. Students who exit with a Certificate in Criminal Justice will be employed in the public and private sectors as Police Officers and Correctional Management Officers at entry level. Bachelor degree holders will find employment as Correctional Management professionals in the public and private s ectors.

The approval and implementation of the Namibia University of Science and Technology’s Curriculum Framework and the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) has necessitated the re – curriculation of all existing programmes to ensure compliance with these frameworks. The Bachelor of Criminal Justice in Correctional Management was initially approved by the Namibia University of Science and Technology’s Senate in 2009 and the resultant qualifications were registered on the NQF later that year. In accordance with the requirements of the afore – mentioned frameworks, prog rammes/qualifications need to be reviewed at certain intervals to ensure on – going relevance to the needs and priorities of Namibia.

Candidates may be admitted to the Bachelor of Criminal Justice in Correctional Management programme if they meet the General Admission Requirements of the Namibia University of Science and Technology (GI2.1 in Part 1 of the Yearbook).

Mature Age candidates will be considered provided they meet the requirements of the Namibia University of Science and Technology (GI2.2 in Part 1 of the Yearbook)
