The Stellenbosch University International invites applications for PhD Scholarships from bright young individuals to pursue research leading to a PhD degree. These scholarships are available for South African applicants funded by Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.
The aim of the scholarships is to support candidates to the effort, study and research.
The Stellenbosch University International (SU International) is a support service division within the responsibility area of the Vice-Rector: Strategic Initiatives and Internationalization (SI&I).
Course Level: These scholarships are available to pursue PhD programme.
Study Subject: These scholarships are awarded in the field of Historical Trauma, Transgenerational Transmission of Trauma and Related Themes.
Scholarship Award: These scholarships will cover the following:

  • The scholarships are funded by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation as part of the research initiative.

Numbers of Scholarships:  Three scholarships are available.
Scholarship can be taken in South Africa
Eligibility: Applicants must meet the following area for these scholarships:

  • Applicants should have a strong research background, especially in qualitative research methods with a Research, Clinical or related Master’s’ degree in Psychology. Applicants from other fields in the Humanities and Social Sciences may be considered. Demonstrable research skill and experience at Masters’ level in empirical data gathering, especially in qualitative research methods, will be ascribed high importance.

Nationality: South African applicants can apply for these scholarships.

  • Applicants are required to submit a summary or draft proposal with their application. The draft proposal should describe, under a proposed title, the research to be undertaken, and the applicant’s disciplinary background.
