The University of the Witwatersrand is pleased to offer Bursary for a Master of Public Health (MPH) or MSc Epidemiology and Biostatistics, in the School of Public Health, South Africa. South African citizens are eligible to apply for this bursary.
The university is aiming to build expertise, experience and research capacity in asbestos matters in South Africa.

Course Level: Bursary is available to pursue Master degree programme.
Study Subject: Bursary is awarded to pursue Master in Public Health and MSc in Epidemiology and Biostatistics program.
Scholarship Award: The bursary covers all tuition fees but does not cover costs incurred in attending the MPH/MSc, e.g. books, transport, accommodation, meals, and incidental costs. Nor does it cover any research-related costs.
Number of Scholarships: One bursary is available.
Scholarship can be taken in South Africa
Eligibility: The following criteria must be met in order for applicants to be eligible for the scholarship:

  • Applicants need to have an appropriate four-year tertiary qualification (or equivalent), as indicated on the websites above.
  • Applicants must be South African citizens or permanent South African residents. Applicants must be committed to conducting asbestos-related research.

How to Apply: Interested applicants who meet the eligibility criteria can email Prof Gill Nelson at gill.nelson@wits.ac.za with a strong motivation as to why they require a bursary for their studies. In addition, please include (1) a comprehensive CV (please detail all qualifications and work experience), (2) a letter explaining why you want to do the MPH/ MSc, and (3) why you require a bursary.
Application Deadline: The closing date for bursary applications is October 20, 2017. Eligible applicants will be interviewed by a committee set up by the trustees of the Trusts.
