Kunene River Lodge Job Vacancies 2024-2025
Kunene River Lodge Job Vacancies
Welcome to Kunene River Lodge
The lodge is situated on the bank of the Kunene River which forms the north-western border between Angola and Namibia. A lush canopy of indigenous trees provides shade for chalets and campsites, while the swimming pool is on the sunny lawn. From the bar and restaurant, a deck extends over the river, making for a spectacular location to enjoy a drink or a delicious meal with game viewing opportunities to boot.
Excitement abounds nearby at Ondorusu Gorge, where the adventurous at heart can try white-water rafting. Two of the four-day rafting excursions take you along parts of the river where few have ventured, camping overnight on the riverbank.
Spot rare endemic birds during the bird cruise, meet the Himba people and learn about their culture, and marvel at the African sunset mirrored in the river during a sundowner cruise.
Your stay will be filled with adventure and memorable moments.

Activities
Bird Watching
Exotic bird species abound within the Lodge grounds for anyone to spot. The deck is an ideal place to relax and wait for different varieties to appear. And our Early-Morning Birding River Cruise with a knowledgeable guide (and refreshments!) is a must for beginners and experienced birders alike.
Himba Kraal Visits
Many of Namibia’s most striking images, recognised world-wide, show the beautiful Himba people with their glowing red skin and intricate adornments.
Kaokoland is home to a Himba population estimated at 12,000. Sadly, their traditional way of life, with its culture of strict rituals, is increasingly at risk from the attractions of 21st century technology and lifestyles, leading many to abandon their nomadic existence by moving to towns and adopting western dress, thereby becoming ‘invisible’ to travellers.
Kunene Canoeing
With our Canoeing activity, you can rent a canoe at reception and explore the river at your own pace. This is suitable for experienced rowers or those who are trying it out for the first time.
Kunene River Fishing
Popular with many of our Guests either in the Lodge grounds or beyond. Many fish varieties populate the river just waiting to be discovered. Fishing rods may be hired for the day.
There are over 60 species of fish in the Kunene River comprised mainly of 10 species of Tilapia, Butterbarbel and there are also some Pike.
The Kunene river is westerly flowing so therefore there are no Tiger Fish.
Kunene River Sundowner Cruise
Drift lazily along the river with your favourite tipple on one of our Sundowner Cruises. Look out for wildlife and watch the ever changing hues of the scenery as they are magically transformed, amplified by reflections from the rippling water, as the sun dips second-by-second, and ever more rapidly, behind the far mountains, finally plunging the earth into darkness.
White Water Rafting
This Adventure will satisfy anyone and everyone.
Novices will experience all the thrills and adrenaline pumping excitement they could imagine, while experts with a thirst for adventure will appreciate the quality of the rapids to be discovered in the Ondorusu Gorge.
