Applications are invited for Journalism Bursary programme for 2015 academic year. Up to six bursary are open to young southern African (SADC-member states: Angola, Botswana, Democratic Republic of Congo, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Swaziland, United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe + Kenia) and up to five young German journalists. The bursary is intended to enable young journalists to gain valuable insights into the political, economical, cultural as well as the social fabric of the host country. The application deadline is February 15th, 2017.

Course Level: Fellowships are intended to support African and German Journalists.
Scholarship Provider: IJP “International Journalists Programmes” a non-profit organisation (support from governments of both sides represented by the Foreign Office of the Federal Government in Berlin and the foreign ministries of the Nordic countries)

Eligibility: All journalists from Southern Africa (SADC Member States and Kenya) between the age of 25 and 40 who regularly work for a media organization can apply.
Scholarship Open for International Students: Students of South Africa and SADC-Member States: Angola, Botswana, Democratic Republic of Congo, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Swaziland, United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe + Kenya are eligible to apply for this bursary.
Scholarship Description: The next selection of IJP-Fellows will be 2015. The International Journalists’ Programmes (IJP) offer a bursary to up to six young Southern African (SADC-Member States: Angola, Botswana, Democratic Republic of Congo, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Swaziland, United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe + Kenya) and up to five young German journalists. For two months the Southern African delegates will have the chance to work in Germany. They will be integrated into the day-to-day journalism of their host newsroom while also researching stories for their home media. It is assumed that all candidates have a strong command of the English language. German language abilities are an advantage but are not mandatory.
Number of award(s): The International Journalists’ Programmes (IJP) offer a bursary to up to six young Southern African Bursary and up to five bursaries for young German journalists.
Duration of award(s): This is a two months fellowship programme.
What does it cover? The Southern African delegates receive a fixed payment of 3,000 Euro. This is expected to cover most of their travel, accommodation and living expenses.
