Hitradio Namibia – My Music. My transmitter. is the first commercial German-speaking radio station in Namibia.
Hitradio Namibia received broadcasting permission from the Namibian communications authority (CRAN – Communications Regulatory Authority of Namibia) on May 15, 2012, making it the new addition to Namibia’s colorful media landscape. The owners of Hitradio Namibia were Wilfried Hähner (2012-2020) and Sybille and Reinhold Rothkegel (2012-2019) and Jessica & Hartwig Rothkegel (2019-2020). Since October 1, 2020, the station has been owned by Sybille Moldzio, Kai-Uwe Schonecke and Björn Eichhoff, who care about the beautiful country and its people.
The official start of broadcasting was on August 1, 2012. Hitradio Namibia broadcasts in the central part of the country on 99.5 FM and on the central coast and in Lüderitz on 97.5 FM. Since the end of 2013 Hitradio Namibia can also be received in Otjiwarongo on 90.0 FM and in Tsumeb on 90.4 FM, since 2018 in Oshakati and the surrounding area on 101.1 FM. The expansion in other parts of the country is planned. The station can be heard worldwide via an Internet live stream at www.hitradio.com.na and via satellite (www.satelio.tv).
The program focuses on news and updates from Namibia, southern Africa and around the world. Musically the best of the 80s, 90s, 2000s and today is played. Namibian talents are also promoted. With our internet live stream, Hitradio Namibia is an important marketing tool for the country and its tourism industry, and this enables the station to contribute to the socio-economic development of Namibia. Hitradio Namibia reports independently, objectively and truthfully, but also focuses on the positive developments in Namibia.

INTERNSHIP
Hitradio Namibia is looking for interns who enjoy working in a small radio station in southern Africa.
Requirements are:
- Radio experience
- Further knowledge in the fields of media and journalism (practical experience or completed first year of study in a professional field relevant to media / journalism or completed second year of apprenticeship)
- Fluency in German and English, both spoken and written
- Enjoyment of communication and creativity
- Three months to work at Hitradio Namibia
- Independent work
Hitradio Namibia offers:

To be borne by the intern himself:
- Flight (from approx. € 600 return)

For legal reasons, Hitradio Namibia is not permitted to pay financial compensation to foreign interns. To apply for the necessary work visa (three months), it is necessary that it is a compulsory internship as part of the training .
Important: internships are always awarded for 3 months (if both parties are interested, an extension of 3 months can be applied for on site). Hitradio Namibia will always try to implement a 2-week transition phase for an intern so that they can learn something from each other and exchange ideas about life in Windhoek.
