AIMS Co-operative Master’s Degree Scholarships for African Students, 2017-2018

African Institute for Mathematical Sciences(AIMS) is now accepting applications for AIMS Co-operative master’s degree scholarship for the 2017-18 academic year. Scholarships are available for pursuing master’s degree programme offered for the duration of 18 months.
AIMS’ curriculum focuses on advanced, broadly applicable mathematical skills relevant to Africa’s development needs.
African Institute for Mathematical Sciences mission is to enable Africa’s brightest students to flourish as independent thinkers, problem solvers and innovators capable of propelling Africa’s future scientific, educational and economic self-sufficiency.
There is no need for GRE, TOEFL of other related language tests to be eligible for the AIMS Scholarship.
Course Level: Scholarships are available for pursuing master’s degree programme.
Study Subject: The AIMS Master’s Degree in Mathematical Sciences is unique and innovative, emphasizing problem-solving and computational skills and provides exposure to cutting edge fields in mathematical science.
Scholarship Award: There is no course fees for successful Master’s Degree applicants. Full bursaries covering tuition, accommodation, meals and travel costs are also awarded to successful applicants.
Scholarship can be taken in Africa (AIMS-Cameroon, Ghana, Senegal, South Africa, Tanzania and Rwanda).
Eligibility: To be eligible, the student must demonstrate the following:

  • Applicants should hold or anticipate completing by the start date of the AIMS course, a 4-year university degree in mathematics, or any science or engineering subject with a significant mathematics component.
  • An applicant’s record should demonstrate strong aptitude in mathematics, leadership and community service
  • Women applicants are strongly encouraged to apply.

Nationality: The January intake for the AIMS Master’s is limited to South African and (SADC) nationals only. The AIMS Master’s and Co-operative Master’s programs are open to all African nationals. The co-operative program is an 18-month program and takes a work-integrated learning approach by combining course work with practical industry experience. Applicants from African countries (Algeria, Angola, Benin, Botswana, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, Cape Verde, Central African Republic, Chad, Comoros, Côte d’Ivoire, Djibouti, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Gabon, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Kenya, Lesotho, Liberia, Libya, Madagascar, Malawi, Mali, Mauritania, Mauritius, Morocco, Mozambique, Namibia, Niger, Nigeria, Republic of the Congo, Rwanda, Sao Tome and Principe, Senegal, Seychelles, Sierra Leone, Somalia, South Africa, Sudan, Swaziland, Tanzania, Togo, Tunisia, Uganda, Western Sahara, Zambia and  Zimbabwe) are eligible  to apply for this scholarship.
College Admission Requirement
Entrance Requirements: Applicants should hold, or anticipate completing by the start date of the AIMS course, a 4-year university degree in mathematics, or any science or engineering subject with a significant mathematics component.
English Language Requirements: There is no need for GRE, TOEFL of other related language tests to be eligible for the AIMS Scholarship. However, you might be required to take up some English and French courses once you are at AIMS.
Scholarship for Masters
How to Apply: Apply online, using the online application mode. Applicants will need to complete an online application form (which includes answers to questions about themselves), contact details for two referees (who AIMS will contact) and provide copies of their academic transcripts.
Application Form
Application Deadline: Applications for admission to all AIMS centres open 1 December each year. Applicants are encouraged to apply as early as possible to improve their chances of acceptance. Applications will close on March 20 each year.

  1. pls is there any hope for we those who couldn’t submit application on time n still want to start January, 2019?.
    Just completed Valley View University, techiman campus this year with a second class ,upper division in B.Ed Mathematics.
    pls l will be waiting for ur response.
