How To Make The Best Fudge Recipe Ever – Easy and Delicious!

Who doesn’t love fudge? It’s creamy, rich and chocolatey. And fudge also happens to be really easy to make at home. A traditional fudge recipe usually calls for condensed milk and a lot of sugar – that’s the key ingredient in fudge after all! These two things combined will give you a very sweet, but not-so-delicious result. So we’ve tweaked the ingredients in this blog post on how to make fudge so that instead of tasting like sugar, it tastes like real chocolate. Scroll down for our simple tips on how to make fudge, with step-by-step instructions and photos. This easy homemade fudge recipe is made using condensed milk and vanilla extract instead of regular milk or sweetened condensed milk. The mixture is also sweetened with honey and brown sugar so it’s much healthier than the store-bought stuff too!

Fudge without condensed milk

For the uninitiated, the key difference between fudge and toffee is that fudge requires no cooking while toffee requires you to boil the ingredients. Traditionally, fudge is made with condensed milk, and lots of butter and sugar. But with this condensed milk-free recipe, you can make fudge with no cooking required. The condensed milk isn’t just a sweetener, it also helps to keep the fudge set, so without it you’ll need to cool the fudge in the fridge for the firm texture we know and love. If you want to make toffee, then you can follow this recipe, or follow the toffee recipe from our caramel popcorn recipe, just remember, no boiling!

More fudgy-tasting fudge

The recipe for fudge above gives you a delicious, creamy fudge with a strong chocolate flavour, but if you want something even more indulgent, then we have a few extra tips! You can add a pinch of salt to the mixture to create a more fudgy texture and bring out the flavours of the chocolate even more. Be careful not to add too much though, as salt can mute the sweetness of the fudge. You could also add some instant coffee granules to your fudge to make a coffee fudge. Again, be careful not to add too much, as it can also dull the sweetness. Finally, why not add some toasted nuts to the fudge? This can help to counterbalance the sweetness and make a more interesting flavour.

Easy Homemade Fudge Recipe

This recipe makes about 4-6 pieces of fudge. You can halve or double the recipe as needed. You’ll need: – 50g (2oz) dark chocolate – 50g (2oz) milk chocolate – 200g (7oz) condensed milk – 2 tbsp honey – 2 tbsp brown sugar – 1 tsp vanilla extract – Put the chocolates in a bowl and melt them over a saucepan of simmering water, or in the microwave at 30 second intervals, checking between each one to make sure they don’t overheat. – Once melted, mix in the condensed milk, honey, brown sugar and vanilla. – Pour the mixture into a lined 8x8in tin and leave to set in the fridge. – Leave to set for at least 2 hours before cutting and serving. – This fudge can be served on its own, or with some salted caramel sauce drizzled over the top.

How to Make Fudge with Condensed Milk

We love this condensed milk-free recipe, but if you’d prefer to make it with condensed milk, then you can follow this recipe instead. You’ll need:

– 100g (3½oz) dark chocolate

– 100g (3½oz) milk chocolate

– 400g (14oz) of condensed milk

– 2 tbsp honey

– 2 tbsp brown sugar

– 1 tsp vanilla extract

– Put the chocolates in a bowl and melt them over a saucepan of simmering water, or in the microwave at 30-second intervals, checking between each one to make sure they don’t overheat.

– Once melted, mix in the condensed milk, honey, brown sugar and vanilla.

– Pour the mixture into a lined 8x8in tin and leave to set in the fridge.

– Leave to set for at least 2 hours before cutting and serving.

A Few Notes on This Easy Fudge Recipe

– When making fudge, you’ll need to use a low-fat cocoa powder (or regular cocoa powder with a drop of oil and some extra sugar added), and a low-fat condensed milk if you want to keep this recipe healthy.

– We’ve used a mixture of dark and milk chocolate in this recipe, but you can use all one or the other if you prefer.

– This fudge recipe is quick and easy to make, but it does need to set in the fridge for a few hours, so you might want to make it a day in advance. If you want to make it in advance, then you can halve the recipe, just remember to increase the amount of time in the fridge, so plan for 4-6 hours.

– This fudge is best eaten at room temperature. It’ll still taste great cold, but if you reheat it in the microwave the texture might change a little.

Conclusion

Fudge can be a very unhealthy treat, but this easy homemade fudge recipe is indulgent but also much healthier than the store-bought stuff. We’ve used cocoa powder, honey and brown sugar instead of refined sugar, and condensed milk, and we’ve also skipped the cooking step that darkens the colour of many fudge recipes. The result is a rich, creamy fudge that’s perfect to serve as a treat any time of the year, but can be topped with festive sprinkles to make it even more special. So there you have it, fudge without condensed milk is just as delicious and creamy as the original version, and it’s much healthier too! Enjoy your fudge on its own, or with a drizzle of salted caramel sauce.
