Our Mission
Since Namibia’s independence in 1990, the United States has had an Embassy in the country. The dedicated staff of Americans and Namibians works daily to enhance the lives of Namibians through the framework of our bilateral relationship. Since 2005, the United States government has invested more than US$1.3 billion in the fight against HIV/AIDS in Namibia, making the U.S. the largest single provider of foreign aid to Namibia. In Namibia, the U.S. government is represented by the Department of State, U.S. Agency for International Development, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Peace Corps and PEPFAR (The President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief). More than 1,600 Peace Corps Volunteers have served in Namibia since 1990.
