University of Birmingham Cadbury Research Fellowship Scheme in UK, 2017
The University of Birmingham is pleased to offer Cadbury Research Fellowship Scheme to study in the UK. African scholars are eligible to apply for this fellowship.

In order to undertake a programme of study here at the University, applicants will need to demonstrate that a suitable level of English proficiency. They can demonstrate their level of English with IELTS/TOEFL/PTE or alternative qualifications.
Course Level: Fellowships are available to pursue research.
Study Subject: Fellowships are awarded to the Department of African Studies and Anthropology.
Scholarship Award: Fellowships will cover return airfare, accommodation and living costs for a period of six weeks

Eligibility: The following criteria must be met in order for applicants to be eligible for fellowship:
University is looking for early-career scholars whose research would benefit from a residential fellowship of approximately six weeks at the University of Birmingham. Applicants must be based in an African institution. They should be in the early stages of their academic careers (that is, they should have completed a PhD within the last four years, or now be close to completing one) and they must demonstrate that their research is relevant to the theme.
Nationality: African scholars (Algeria, Angola, Benin, Botswana, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, Cape Verde, Central African Republic, Chad, Comoros, Ivory Coast, Djibouti, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Gabon, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Kenya, Lesotho, Liberia, Libya, Madagascar, Malawi, Mali, Mauritania, Mauritius, Morocco, Mozambique, Namibia, Niger, Nigeria, Republic of the Congo, Rwanda, Sao Tome and Principe, Senegal, Seychelles, Sierra Leone, Somalia, South Africa, Sudan, Swaziland, Tanzania, Togo, Tunisia, Uganda, Western Sahara, Zambia and Zimbabwe) can apply for this fellowship.
College Admission Requirement
Entrance Requirements: University is looking for early-career scholars whose research would benefit from a residential fellowship of approximately six weeks at the University of Birmingham.
English language Requirements: Applicants from outside the home country will often need to meet specific English language/other language requirements in order to be able to study there.

How to Apply: If you would like to be considered for the 2017 scheme, please send your application by email to Dr Kate Skinner on k.a.skinner-at-bham.ac.uk by 9 December 2016. In your email, please let us know how you learned about this programme and confirm that you will be able to come to Birmingham for the fellowship period 24 April 2017 to 4 June 2017. Attached to your email should be two documents:
- A research project description of 1500 words, describing:
a) the research that you have already done,
b) the specific aspect that you seek to develop during the fellowship, and
c) how this relates to the theme of Marriage in Africa. - A short CV (not more than 3 pages) including the names of two referees.
